Biography

MARTIN E. STEIN, JR. has been our Executive Chairman of the Board since January 1, 2020, having served as a director of the Board since 1993 and its chairman since 1998. Mr. Stein served as Chief Executive Officer from our initial public offering in 1993 until his retirement on December 31, 2019. He was our President of our predecessor’s real estate division beginning in 1981 and Vice President from 1976 to 1981. He is a director, chair of the Compensation Committee and member of the Corporate Governance Committee of FRP Holdings, Inc., a publicly held real estate company. Mr. Stein is a graduate of Washington and Lee University and has an M.B.A. from Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business. He is a past chair of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (“Nareit”) and a member of the Urban Land Institute (“ULI”), the International Council of Shopping Centers (“ICSC”) and the Real Estate Roundtable. Mr. Stein is a former trustee of Washington and Lee University and ULI.
